Toe-nail fungus?

I’m not sure if this is the case…but I’d like to know. I’m fairly certain it is from not taking off the polish for a LONG time and so the nail couldn’t breathe…and therefore got a light case of a fungus…
What are some remedies I could do to get it to go away? I will need to paint my toes to wear certain shoes, but will be removing it promptly to let it breathe and get rid of it.
Should, I let my tow just keep growing? Or try some at home remedies or OTC cream?
