Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had a nail fungus ? Well, hope someone can help, though I did go to the doctor, has anyone tried a home remedy. Well, I have been going to the gym and doing exercise at my house, I have been putting on closed sneakers, I noticed that my two toe nails were kind of long and were pressuring against the sneaker, but I did not think anything of this, untill I noticed like a little bit of blood, probably the pressure of the toe against the sneaker, doctor said it was fungus but I have a feeling its not fungus, but anyway if it were , can someone tell me a good home remedy, drinking pills can damage your liver, confused…..please help

  1. I have the same thing and was told to use tea tree oil put on your nails that are infected with a Qtip. It can take up to a year for proper healing. Tea tree oil can be purchased at a local health food store.

  2. If it is fugus, just go to the chemist/drug store and get anti-fungal cream, use it til it clears up & then they recommend you use it for another week or two to make sure it doesn’t come back, & if your not covinced it’s fugus, see another doctor and get a swab of the area, & patholagy can test it to confirm.

  3. it could be fungus. they do tend to bleed and can be itchy. and the nails could start appearing yellowish or greenish and nail looks thicker. what med did the doctor prescribe? u dont have to take an oral drug although liver damage only happens if u abuse the use of meds/alcohol and if there are other underlying medical problems. u can ask your pharmacist for nail lacquer with a generic name of amorofine. if im not mistaken, its only absorbed by your nails and surrounding tissues, nothing more. it may be a bit dear but u only use it once a week. google it for more info. hope this helps

  4. i got that!! i used a product called cure nail….i think?? only side efect is that you lose your memory. ‘NO you dont’ any way, you just sand paper your nail, then you wipe it with an antiseptic wipe. then paint this smelly stuff on. do it every day till it all runs out and its gon.. worked for me. good luck.

  5. IF it`s really nail fungus , prescription “Lamisil” will cure it , although it will take a looong time in most cases .

BTW …… it`s called Lamisil in Canada , although I`m sure it`s called the same in the U.S

Nail fungus , once it`s got a good hold , can be very difficult to cure . Lamisil WILL cure it , but the treatment can take what seems like forever .

  6. if it is a fungus affecting the nail, you have a lot of company as it affects 10% of adults. Typically there are yellow areas on the nail and often flakey material beneath it.

The diagnosis should not really be made without taking nail clippings and sending them away for fungal culture. This is because there are nail dystrophies which look very similar, but have no treatment, and if fungus is confirmed treatment can take more than a year.

Oral anti-fungals like Lamasil do have potential to affect the liver, alas there are no useful home remedies for the nail. Good news there is a fairly effective topical laquer with no side effects, but it is time consuming. Loceryl is applied once or twice a week. It is available over the counter, but since it is often required for a year, it is cheaper on prescription.

  7. I have had it for a few years now, i have taken treatment for it twice, i took Sporanox which is quite strong and expensive and it still has not cleared it fully. The second treatment has begun to work now, but i think it will take at least another 6 months before i get rid of it. If it is a fungal infection it not be easy to get rid off and i would not recommend a home remedy, as i don’t think it would be strong enough for it.
